Climate Team Leader

Job Description

BluePoint Planning is an innovative, small woman-owned business that works with governments and non-profits throughout California and nationally, with the vision of building a decarbonized and more resilient world through implementation-focused planning and public policy. We are seeking a senior professional with expertise in government-related climate mitigation and adaptation planning, nature-based solutions or related areas of work who can expand the firm’s capacity to pursue and deliver projects.

As a Climate Team Leader, you will bring 10 or more years of experience in climate change mitigation and resilience and adaptation planning, with your own references and portfolio.  You will lead project teams, work closely with clients, and help project managers and associates develop technical capabilities. You’ll work with BluePoint’s principal on supporting and when appropriate leading marketing efforts for climate and sustainability-related projects.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position’s responsibilities will include some, or all, of the following, depending on the individual’s experience.

  • Guiding and supporting team members to produce implementation-focused plans and deliverables in your areas of expertise.

  • Managing multiple client and stakeholder relationships, including budgeting, project management, and time management.

  • Providing strong communications and facilitation skills for public processes and stakeholder engagement.

  • Bringing a problem-solving, innovative mindset to projects, helping clients and BluePoint develop plans that make progress toward a more resilient future.

  • Reviewing and evaluating requests for proposals and requests for qualifications, making recommendations on whether to pursue and how to create a competitive team and proposal.

  • Building collaborations with partner firms to pursue and deliver projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 + years of related work experience, particularly with government agencies or similar consultant firms.

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Capabilities in outreach, communications, planning, and environmental and public policy

  • Excellent writing skills.

  • Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications suite, and ideally experience in InDesign.

  • Demonstrated project and people management expertise.

  • Willingness to travel some.
